REBRAC

Regional Environmental Business Resource and Assistance Centers, (REBRAC), coordinate statewide programs and services designed to mitigate the impact of environment, health and safety compliance regulations.  These regulations specify the manner in which businesses may handle, store, use and dispose of hazardous materials, as well as, regulate air and water pollution, traffic congestion and help minimize the production of waste.  The Centers assist in the development of model Certificate and Associate degree programs in environmental, health and safety technologies.

The Centers provide five basic services:

  • Training in EH&S

  • Compliance counseling

  • Applied technology counseling (including energy conservation)

  • Financial counseling

  • EH&S audit assistance

Our Mission - The Central Valley Regional Environmental Business Resource Assistance Center (REBRAC) is committed to fulfilling a fundamental role in the economic development of the southern San Joaquin Valley. We will assist businesses in the region to overcome the challenges of environmental compliance and in so doing will lower their liability and operating expenses while conserving resources and protecting public health and the environment.

Organization Profile - A Regional Environmental Business Resource and Assistance Center (REBRAC) is a not for profit organization conceived and funded by the California Community College Chancellor’s Office Economic Development Program (ED>Net). Its function is to serve business needs, within a designated region, in environmental compliance and resource conservation. Bakersfield College was awarded a grant in 1998 to start up a REBRAC that would provide assistance, education, and training to businesses in the southern San Joaquin Valley. This REBRAC was named the Central Valley REBRAC, and is located in Economic Development Region 5. There are currently six REBRACs in the state. They are located in San Diego, Yorba Linda, Santa Maria, Bakersfield, Sacramento, and Santa Clara. Their addresses and contact numbers are listed in the box to the left.
